French California

This photo of dusk on the oyster parks is taken from a weekend on the Bassin d'Arcachon in France. It's a stunning area between the Atlantic and the pine trees where my family have ties going back a fair bit. It's also the French "California": a new country built in the 1860s by the railroad, the fair weather and the sea, and it's own mini "gold rush" for the pine trees sap.

I love this piece of coastline.. :)

i spent two summers travelling here, between Lacanau and Biarittz.

I remember the trees and the open spaces.... and the long beaches..

The only shame Ben is that it was pretty flat last weekend, 50cm.
